Your work looks great i just wish i had a further appreciation.

What is the difference between digital painting and traditional????

Are these done like lets say i open up paint right now and start playing around with the colors is that what this is? Or do you just take photo shop and etc etc etc etc. Either way i imagine the work here would still be hard to create. I would just like alittle insight inside the mind of a digital artist i suppose :D
:iconjam1r0quai:
well where do I begin? Traditional painting is using actual brushes and painting on canvas by hands..I prefer digital painting because I dont have to deal with mixing paints or cleaning up when i'm done..I can do a digital painting on the computer a hundred times faster than I could on canvas..and the ctrl z option for erasing is priceless...dont get me wrong the same rules apply on digital painting...the laws of anatomy, perspective, lighting, etc....With enough practice anyone can be an outstanding digital painter...I've been painting everyday since 2005..I dont post as much because I throw alot of my work away....If your thinking of getting into digital painting, I highly recommend it...well hope this helps..

I may in the future do a digital piece or two. The reason i ask is because i see MANY digital artists on this site and i want to embrace their art but i am unaware of the actions taken place *i dont know what to say*. It would just help me further appreciate there work if i understood the difference between a good and bad one. For some could be photoshop artists? Or they could use many different programs to generate a piece.

I do not mean to bash digital work in anyway! *as you prolly already know* :D

But i am thinking some artists do use programs to help guide them while others use more freehand style (but then again traditional artists use the same things *projectors and cameras*). I just couldnt image doing art with the feel of it!!!!

Btw i do like the fox! and your other paintins are nice aswell.

well I am also a traditional penciler..I used to draw way before I ever got involved with photoshop..When I first started I would draw a picture then scan it onto my computer and paint using the photoshop program and a tablet...Now because I have been doing this for so long I can start a painting on my screen from scratch...I spent like an hour and a half on this one..I like speed so using the computer saves me tons of time..If I'm doing pin up style work it is very easy..It gets hard for me when I'm working on a comic book..Depending on all the panels my writer gives me....

Thank you very much!!!!

ahhhh. Well you have good work. And art is art :D. But somtimes its really really hard to give a good critique cuz ive had cases where i thought somthing was traditional but it was digital. i would comment on the work and be like "wow this is really good i like the way you made the sun look as if it wasnt drawn" then i realized IT WASNT!!!! lol.
:iconjam1r0quai:
And yes I completely understand I was extremely skeptical till I just picked it up and next thing you know it becomes like an every day thing...I really enjoy looking at some of the wonderful artists here on the site..I try to figure out how they do various techniques..So I'm constantly experimenting with new things with every painting...I get fooled sometimes when I look at other work, and find out its digital...Whats really cool is when some people mistake my work for traditonal..I think I got told that on my puppy and cat in my gallery...those get the most faves for some reason...
:iconpmmurphy:
Well the way i see it. Not many people really take the time to sit down and take a true appreciation for digital artwork. So your at a disadvantage for the most part.

That is why i think people would fav those pictures more then the ones that are obviously digital work.

You get this all the time people not understanding a certain style of art or a medium or watever it may be. Then they think all cuz that person can spend a certain amount of time on a project and produce somthing of a certain quality that the overall expectations of that medium and or art field should be lowered and or highered. So i just ignore all this complicated crap cuz look at all this typing and sit down and try to visualize the art it its own capture THEN rate it! lol

Then once i get a true appreciation is when i begin my critiques. Because i remember in highschool there was this one girl who was into print making (only one person in my whole high shcool had it) she only did one piece and it was of flowers a very simple composition and really didnt look that "impresive".

But she won many contests, so the kids at my school (art students) would be angry because their pieces looked more spectacular, but at the same time before they sat down to gather a true appreciation for her work (since they had never used print making which i havnt either) they truly never understood exactly how incredible that piece could of been no matter how simple it looked.

Well i ramble alot so ill just send this much.
